According to ABC News, at 5:40am this morning, a crash between a van and a truck occurred on the corner of Manningham and Bulleen Road, in Melbourne's east.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill reported that the truck driver failed to stop at a red light, and collided with a van that entered the intersection on a green light. He reported, "It's created, as you'd imagine, a devastating collision between a truck and a small Tarago van".
The female driver of the van died at the scene and the female passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police reported that the 28-year-old truck driver from Wollert was taken to hospital, but did not obtain life-threatening injuries.
The collision is still being investigated and anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV/dashcam footage or any further information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
