Welcome to the twentieth issue of Manningham Life!
The construction of the North East Link Project (NELP) has well and truly started in Manningham. Many parts of our city, especially along the Eastern Freeway, are showing signs of this mega project taking shape. Over the past six months, residents and business owners have shared how the works are affecting their daily lives. In January, we doorknocked homes and businesses near the Bulleen Rd and Manningham Rd intersection to hear their experiences firsthand. Their feedback forms the heart of our cover story in this issue.
We are also pleased to collaborate with local organisations like Inner FM and Doncaster Bowling Club, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership where we promote each other to our readers and members. By supporting one another, we strengthen our community connections and ensure that local organisations continue to thrive.
Additionally, we’re excited to welcome Paul Dellios of Dellios, West & Co. as a contributor, writing about legal issues that impact our community. His first article in this issue explores the rising costs of death expenses, a topic that affects many families. We look forward to his insights in future issues.
On a personal note, I’ll be taking some time off over the next few months. While I step away, the next issue — Issue 21 May/June — will be put together by members of our community, particularly young aspiring journalists. It’s an exciting opportunity for fresh voices to take the lead, and I can’t wait to see what they create!
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out at 0490 116 552 or editor@manninghamlife.com.au.
Happy reading!
