On Thursday 10th April around midday, it's alleged a man stole a vehicle from Carawatha Road, Doncaster and decided to park the vehicle nearby to steal items of interest.
The victim noticed the thug trying to take items from the car and once the offender realised he had been spotted, he fled in another stolen vehicle.
This second stolen car had mechanical failure and stopped on Massey Street, where the offender then decided to flee on foot, jumping fences and changing his clothes, whilst attempting to hide from police on Santiago Street.
The offender, a 39-year-old man from Lalor, was arrested and has been charged with theft of motor vehicles, theft from motor vehicle and for the handling of stolen goods.
