According to Manningham Crime Investigation Unit, on October 31, officers received reports of two suspicious vehicles - a grey Ford Ranger and a white Holden Commodore, that were allegedly driving erratically and were last seen travelling at 9:30am on Ferntree Gully Road.

Police later spotted the Ford in Warrandyte and followed it to the Diamond Creek area at about 12:20pm.

Air Wing then assisted, following the vehicle to a shopping centre on Doncaster Road in Doncaster, at about 12:50pm.

The man allegedly dumped the Ford in the carpark and ran into the shopping centre, where officers were able to find and arrest him.

Detectives believe the Ford is linked to three separate burglaries that occurred in Glen Waverley, Wantirna and Warrandyte South.

A 31-year-old man from Hampton Park was charged with burglary, theft, failing to stop on police direction, driving in a dangerous manner, theft of a motor vehicle and prohibited possession of a firearm.

The Holden Commodore is still yet to be found by police.
