According to Manningham Eyewatch, three men have been charged in connection with 120 alleged liquor store thefts across Melbourne suburbs in 2024, with stolen goods valued at over $130,000. The affected suburbs included (but were not limited to) Bulleen, Forest Hill, Preston, and Ringwood.

After further investigation, detectives from the Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant on January 2, 2025, at a unit on Hoddle Street in Collingwood. During the search, police recovered a quantity of cannabis, clothing with labels and security tags still attached, and several identification cards bearing multiple names, all of which were seized.
